There are two films I’m going to see in the next few weeks. The first is Beowulf a story of a warrior fighting 3 demons or enemies. I have vague but fond memories of this story from my early childhood. What’s interesting for me now is the meaning in the metaphor. As we go to achieve anything there are our own demons / challenges to overcome. Many times when we’re going through change then there is usually 1 challenge, face it, overcome it and you’re on the home stretch. However with transformation that isn’t the case, here we usually face several challenges, which become more fierce. However it’s in facing into these that we grow.
The second movie will be released on the 7th Dec in the UK – the Golden Compass. This I have high expectations for, there is something in the plot line that fascinates me. I haven’t read the original books but I’ve heard good things. Here the plot line is about a girl Lyra and her world. Here your soul lives on the outside in a daemon. A child’s daemon can change according to what’s required as the child’s mind holds infinite potential. As an adult it settles down and becomes fixed in one form best expressing that persons character and nature. That could be one way of saying we become fixed in our ways too and no longer conceive of our infinite potential. If you want some fun then take the test to find out who and what your personal daemon is.
